Licensing
Licence & Terms
Universal Shader Library is a single free build. There is no paid tier and no commercial subscription — USL is free to use, including for commercial work.
Whether you’re working on a personal portfolio, a paid client project, or a shipped commercial product, you can use USL at no cost. The app stays free for everyone.
What You Can Do
- Use USL for personal, hobby, and student projects
- Use USL for paid client work, studio pipelines, and commercial productions
- Use it across any of the supported DCCs and renderers
No licence purchase, subscription, or registration is required for any of this.
What You Cannot Do
USL is closed-source software. To keep the app free and sustainable, the licence does not permit you to:
- Redistribute the app or its files (host, share, or bundle it elsewhere)
- Resell USL or access to it
- Modify the application
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble it
These terms cover the application itself. For the materials shipped inside USL, see PixelConstruct Materials.
Support USL
USL is a solo project and it’s free for everyone — there’s no obligation to pay anything. If it saves you time and you’d like to help fund continued development, you can support it on Patreon. It’s entirely optional and is never a requirement for commercial use.
Your support funds:
- Compatibility updates as Maya, Blender, Houdini, and Unreal Engine release new versions
- Active bug fixes and performance improvements
- New features, materials, and DCC integrations
